We aspire to promote a greater understanding of the work that goes into creating a healthy and pleasant home. To have a tangible role in transmitting the competencies and knowledge required to do this and play a real role in making the home a major restorative in our society.
Lismullin Hospitality Services Centres has a 14-year track record of organising activities and courses. The team, which runs the Lismullin complex on a day-to-day basis, is highly qualified and experienced. The evidence of their success is seen in that hundreds of people have come through the doors to participate in the different activities available up to now. Many have testified how it has given them a new perspective on why the home is so important or simply brought about a change for the good in their personal lives.
Home Arts are important for creating a warm and welcoming home. It is well known that having meals together improves family relations and having a well-run home founded on good organisational skills is equally vital. Order and cleanliness create peace and harmony which allow people to live together happily and to develop their potential. In reality running the home is like running a small enterprise, requiring a lot of knowledge, flexibility and a range of different skills which are transferable to other workplaces.
All this is done with the inspiration of the message of Opus Dei whose mission is to spread the message that work and the circumstances of everyday life are occasions for growing closer to God, for serving others, and for improving society.

“I consider it… on very many occasions, more important than other jobs: because those who have that profession… reach the heart of society the very centre of people’s lives, the heart of every home…..”
St Josemaria Escriva, Founder of Opus Dei, speaking on the work of the home.
